2081 is the debut album from solo-artist / producer Pynner, released in February of 2019. The album truly caters to the ʻshuffle generationʼ as it seamlessly spans the genres of electronic, rock, and hip-hop. The first single of the album, The Propaganda, was released in 2012 (as Space Freaks), and featured on several college radio shows across Canada. Music reviewer Alan Cross posted the song online commenting, “Itʼs noisy. I like noise.”
Pynner is originally from Hamilton, ON, but currently resides in Victoria, BC. As a drummer he has performed with several bands, including the touring punk act Kill Matilda. His music is heavily influenced by the sounds of Pink Floyd, Daft Punk, The Beastie Boys, and many more.
2081 is a science-fiction concept album about a dystopian society in which corporate greed has lead the world into a series of tragic disasters. It contemplates some of the worldʼs current social and economic issues. All songs on the album were written, performed, and mixed by Pynner, except for The Protest which was made in collaboration with The Prestigious Rapper Dave (PRD). Pynner has spent over 500 hours in the past eight years bringing this project into fruition.
